Everyone who could be barred under US travel ban as Donald Trump set to update ‘red list’

US President Donald Trump may revive his controversial ‘travel ban’ idea during his second term.

In 2017, Trump issued an executive order banning people from certain countries, mostly Muslim-majority, from entering the US. The ban faced opposition and went through several revisions before being repealed by Joe Biden in 2021.

Now back in office, Trump is reportedly preparing a new ban. He has directed the US State Department to review countries with insufficient vetting information for potential restrictions. Afghanistan and Pakistan are expected to be on the ‘red list,’ which would ban people from those countries.

Additional lists may include ‘orange’ and ‘yellow’ tiers, with varying restrictions on visas and entry.
